Please refer to Document 00 72 13 Genera Conditions, Paragraph 13.1.5 Builder’s Risk Insurance: Builder’s Risk “All Risk” Insurance which states “School District provides “All Risk” Insurance. Prime General Contractor responsible for deductible portion.” Please clarify dollar amount of “All Risk” Insurance deductible.

The deductible for the “all risk” or builders’ risk insurance is $10,000.  

Can a Subcontractor that “holds” a C-4, C-7, C-10, C-16, C-20, C-34, C-38, C-42, C-43 or C-46 license be listed for a trade that does not require work performed under one of these licenses if they are not prequalified?

Div. 1 Spec 01 10 30 -3 Item 3.6 – Specification 01 10 30 – 3 Item 3.6 Hazardous Materials A. Should asbestos, PCB or other hazardous materials be encountered in any area, immediately stop all work in that area and notify the District’s representative; the District will remove all hazardous material, clean the area, and have it certified as safe by a Certified industrial Hygienist before work under this contract may proceed in that area. A time extension will be granted for delay caused by this cleanup. Please confirm It is not GC’s responsibility to handle the Hazardous Materials.

It is GC’s responsibility to handle the Hazardous Materials through subcontractor.

Div. 1 Spec 01 50 00-1 item 1.2 T0.01 General Notes 17 – Specification 01 50 00-1 item 1.2 Water is available for use without metering and without payment of use charges. Plan T0.01 General Notes 17. Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining water necessary for construction water can be made available on site via existing hydrant. and shall be properly metered through local water agency. Please confirm water is available for use without metering and without payment of use charges.

A1.06 – A1.06 calls #3 (N) 4″ thick concrete paving to match Existing. Please clarify the location and area of the NEW 4″ concrete paving.

Note 3 on sheet A1.06 shall be omitted. The piping is going overhead eliminating the need for any 4” thick concrete paving.

Addenda #1 item 35 – Add#1 #35 No more than 12 permanent classrooms can be emptied at any given time. Phase #1, #2, #3, and #4 have more than 12 classrooms. A; Should we break each phase into (2)? B: If allowed to break each phase into (2), please suggesting on how to secure the construction site from snake in students?

Phases 1, 2, & 4 shall be broken into A & B, but still needs to be completed within the duration specified in phasing plan & schedule.

Phase 3 falls during summer, and needs to be completed within the duration specified in phasing plan & schedule.

Exterior Glass types – We have not been able to locate a glass manufacture or glass type that equals the performance values listed at 088000 2.7B. a. Please provide manufacture and composition of required exterior glass including overall thickness, glass types to be used, tint if any, and performance values. b. Please advise if any of the glass products listed under 088000 2.2A and 2.2B will be required as part of the exterior glass type ( PPG Starphire, Guardian Ultrawhite ). to meet the performance values listed in 088000 2.7B c. 088000 2.7C Special Purpose Laminated glass item 1e states this is to be used at exterior glazing at gymnasium. We could not identify any new glazing requirements for the gymnasium. Please clarify. d. If laminated glass is to be used at the gymnasium 088000 2.7C1a calls for tinted laminated with a ¼” thick interlayer. ¼” thick interlayer is not available. Please issue specification listing manufacture, glass type/types, overall thickness, tint color, etc. to be used if required.

Waterproofing Requirements – at window break metals sheet A9.02 1. Please advise if any waterproofing membranes or other materials are required behind the break metal wraps and sill flashings shown in the details sheet A9.02. 2. Please advise if the break metal intersections A9.02 will need any type of caulking beauty bead at the abutting joints or if they are to just butt each other no caulking. If yes please advise which intersections will require caulking. 3. Please advise if the break metal wraps Sheet A9.02 will need any type of fasteners for installation or if the break metal wraps are to be caulked/glued in place with no fasteners. Window Anchor Spacing Sheet A9.02 a. Please confirm if the anchor spacing as listed for window anchors in the details A9.02 is to be as shown using 12” and 24” spacing or if all details should have the same anchor spacing

  1. Yes, waterproofing membrane is required all around openings. New spec. section for membrane will be provided under V3 set.
  2. Window detailing is being adjusted to eliminate the need for much of break metal; however, joints need to be secured and waterproofed properly.
  3. Please see response to question above. Break metal at all locations will need to be fastened and secured in place.

Contractor must provide such watchman’s service as necessary to protect both the contractor and OUHSD’s interest during the progress of construction. Please confirm the watchman’s service is only required during school hours listed as 8:00AM to 3:00PM each school day.

Yes. 

From our understanding, it is not GC’s responsibility to remove and replace all the hazardous materials in school, such as stucco at exterior walls, Joint Compound at Band Room Ceiling, 12” Gray Floor Tile Composite and associated Black Mastic ASB Office, etc… Please confirm that the contractor only handle the Asbestos and Hazardous Materials has to be demolished.

 It is the contractor responsibility to replace any finishes removed. The contractor is responsible to remove any hazardous materials encountered during the demolition, scope and placement of new finishes and materials. Floor tiles and mastic are not included in scope of work.
